#5 Superdiversity

No one knows exactly how many people have come and want to stay.

"No issue has moved the people of Europe, the media, politicians and administrators as much in the last six months as the challenge of “integrating” large numbers of people into their respective societies in the coming years. Between 'We can do it!' and “Immigration limits now!” and “Fences now!”, the polarising political debate focuses primarily on a “refugee crisis”. In fact, however, it is a reception and integration crisis. This shows that the welfare state has been ‘cut back’ to the bone and is now proving to be emaciated and unsustainable. This is counterbalanced by a completely unexpected level of civil society engagement, without which the situation would have long since descended into massive conflict." (Nina V. Kolowratnik, Johannes Pointl; Fluchtraum)
