GUMPI_forschung

Parents as Urban Researchers. In the Citizen Science project GUMPI_research, the redesign process of "Future-Ready Gumpendorfer Straße" is expanded to include the perspectives of single parents. By focusing on ecological and social justice, the project highlights the potential of participatory research in urban development.

In GUMPI_research, single parents actively engage in urban research, collaboratively investigating the transformation process of Gumpendorfer Straße. The project focuses on the participatory planning process for Gumpendorfer Straße in Vienna’s 6th district, exploring the question: "How future-ready will Gumpendorfer Straße really be?" This research project operates as a Citizen Social Science initiative. This means that data from the participatory process – such as current uses and future visions for the street's design – are analysed collectively and interpreted from the perspective of the co-researchers. The project ran from April 2023 to June 2023 and was conducted as an empirical component of a master's thesis at the future.lab Research Center of TU Wien. It forms part of the JPI Urban Europe project OPUSH.
