Archdiploma 2017

One of the faculty's fundamental concerns is to create occasions and opportunities to publicly discuss, reflect on, and ultimately communicate good final theses. The archdiploma—an exhibition of outstanding diploma and master's theses in architecture and spatial planning from TU Wien—is understood as an exhibition, a showcase, and a discursive space.

The tenth archdiploma will take place in October/November 2017. Originally conceived as a biennial exhibition of the best final theses in the field of architecture, it has developed into a special showcase for the Faculty of Architecture and Spatial Planning. Over the past two years, around 790 graduates have completed their degrees in architecture, spatial planning and regional planning, and building science. The Archdiploma 2017 catalog and exhibition feature 80 projects by 85 graduates.

A jury made up of colleagues from academia, research, and practice conducted an intensive selection process and chose 19 entries that reflect the standards, qualifications, and qualities that are particularly representative of the Faculty of Architecture and Spatial Planning's degree programs. These entries are presented in detail in the exhibition space. Archdiploma 2017 thus opens up a very special space for exciting and in-depth discourse on the profile and quality standards of studying at TU Wien.

Identity and graphic design: process.studio

This catalog contains contributions to a total of 80 diploma or master's theses from the fields of architecture and spatial planning and regional development. The theses reflect the broad spectrum of teaching and research at our faculty. They are an expression of a diverse, broad-based disciplinary structure, which can be considered one of the particular strengths of the Faculty of Architecture and Spatial Planning. I hope that this catalog will once again become a platform for further discourse on the study of architecture, spatial planning, and building science.
