Sharing: Possible! – Praktiken des Teilens in der städtischen Erdgeschosszone

The construction sector consumes vast amounts of resources, which makes it all the more important to treat existing structures with care and to examine the uses and lifestyles practiced within them for urban transformation. The urban ground floor zone particularly impressively reflects the shortcomings of the existing building stock in the form of vacancy and misuse.

This open access publication addresses the challenge of how shared spaces and resources can be implemented in existing urban structures. The authors discuss practices of sharing spaces as promising approaches to satisfying individual and community needs, strengthening the common good, and creating a high-quality living environment. In doing so, they critically reflect on various approaches to solutions and develop them further on the basis of an experimental space for urban renewal in Vienna.
