AI in Architecture, Planning, and Environment

Focus

The AI|APE Center advances the systematic use of artificial intelligence within the Faculty of Architecture and Planning by fostering cooperation, establishing best practices, and supporting its application in research and teaching.

AI is already in use across the faculty, but scattered: a survey of 2022 to 2025 identified 96 people with AI-related publications and 339 relevant works.

What the center does

  • a lecture series, a research school and an international conference, first held at TU Wien
  • best practices and reusable examples, together with TU Cookbooks
  • a monthly survey of open calls, advice on the AI components of proposals
  • entry points for AI in the curricula, together with the study commission

The methods belong to computer science, their use belongs to the disciplines: AI|APE is not a computer science center but the disciplinary interface. Links to CAIML, AI4ALL, the Data Stewards initiative and TU Cookbooks run through shared people.
