#21 FOCUS ON SOIL: How can civil society contribute to soil protection?

In the second episode of the mini-series SOIL IN FOCUS, Barbara Steinbrunner discusses with her guests Sarah Haider-Nash, Christina Hummel, and Elmar Juen the question of what contribution civil society in its various organizational forms can make to soil protection. The starting point is their joint participation in the 2nd Austrian Transformation Forum in Krems an der Donau. From their different roles, they reflect on the approach and impact of this event on the areas of their civil society engagement.

Dr. Sarah Haider-Nash is a political scientist and researches climate policy and transformation at the Platform for Sustainable Development (SDGs) at the University for Continuing Education Krems. She is the organizational head of the ⁠Austrian Transformation Forum⁠.

DIin Dr.in Christina Hummel is a soil researcher and coordinates the Soil Consumption working group of Scientists For Future Austria. She is currently working at the Austrian Agency for Health and Food Safety (AGES) on topics including the renaturation of degraded peatlands, soil health, food security, and climate change.

Mag. Elmar Juen taught geography, economics, and music at a secondary school until his retirement. In brass music, he serves as the regional chairman of the Tyrolean Brass Music Association and is a board member of the Austrian Brass Music Association.
